I came to photography at an early age, owning many cameras during my youth. Though the journey into photography was helped by my work for music magazines where I wrote reviews, undertook interviews and concert reviews. My editor knowing my joy in photography, gave me an assignment that included shooting a live show. The energy and joy I felt photographing live music meant that I was hooked from there and then and photography became so much more to me, I got to combine my love of live music and photography together. I established credibility through shooting at a local venue and have graduated to shoot such bands as Parkway Drive, Cradle of Filth, Rose Tattoo, Hunters & Collectors, The Living End and for Rob Thomas as his social media photographer for Canberra in 2019. I have had a number of shots that have been selected and published in a few books. The book 2019 - A Year Before Lockdown was used to support the Music Industry, reeling from the impact of COVID across a loss of touring and uncertainty everywhere, through part of the sales going as donations to Support Act. This is something I am very proud of and those shots are here for you to purchase. A percentage from sales of those shots will be donated to Support Act.
My low light photography skills and my love of the stars, led me to learning the art of Astrophotography. Learning under International Award winner, Ari Rex, I now get to enhance my astrophotography skills by working as one of Ari's Star Crew in teaching Milky Way Workshops out of Canberra. There is nothing better than finding what can be an ordinary subject and making it take on a whole new light when combined with the beauty of the Milky Way. A lot of my work is there to show that.
My work has also been recognised with several Highly Commended works awards in Australian Photography Magazines.
I run my own photography business in Hold Still Photography and have a love of learning new skills everytime I pick up a camera.
