A Closer Look at Why the SanDisk Professional PRO-G40 SSD Is the Perfect on Location Companion
SanDisk Professional has launched the PRO-G40 SSD an ultra-rugged and portable NVMe™ SSD with unmatched speeds. Purpose built for creative professionals and film crews, this allows for the speedy backup of video, images and mission-critical data for ultimate peace of mind, no matter what conditions you face.
SUPERCHARGED TRANSFER SPEEDS
In production or commercial photography shoots, time is money. The last thing you want is to delay the shoot or be held back long after the set has packed down due to a slow backup workflow.
A cool, aluminum core pulls heat away from the internal drive of the PRO-G40 SSD to help maintain super-fast transfer speeds, so you can spend time on what matters: capturing that perfect shot.
When connected to a Thunderbolt 3 device, this SSD boats speeds up to 2700MB/s read and 1900MB/s1 write, which means up to 50GB of data can be transferred in 30 seconds or less!
Via USB 3.2 Gen 2, speeds work at up to 1050MB/s read and 1000 MB/s write – whilst not leveraging it’s full abilities, still more than fast enough to blaze through your most demanding workloads.
ULTRA-RUGGED DESIGN TO BRAVE THE ELEMENTS
When shooting out on location, you may face an unforeseen accident or less than ideal weather conditions, whether that’s extreme heat environments, torrential rains or a windstorm!
With a pro-grade enclosure and silicon bumper edges, the PRO-G40 SSD is SanDisk Professional’s most rugged offering to date. We’re talking 3m drop resistance, and over 1814kg (or 4000lb) crush resistance.2
To put this into perspective – the average weight of a mid-size car is 1600kg.3 By this token, the PRO-G40 SSD could be run over by an Audi A4 and still safely hold its data!
With an IP68 dust-and-water-resistant rating, this drive has the highest International Protection rating possible. It’s dust tight with complete protection against dust, dirt and sand, whilst being able to survive complete, continuous submersion in water for up to 30 minutes at a depth of 1.5 meters.
Having an SSD that can take some rough or rumble treatment will provide that peace of mind you need, whether you’re having to wipe memory cards or back up while on the move.
SMALL AND COMPACT FOR ON THE GO
When shooting away from a studio, you don’t always have the luxury of a full equipment kit on hand. A compact, high capacity storage solution is one piece of kit that can save some much needed space.
Weighing in at just over 120g and 11.1cm L x 5.8cm W, the PRO-G40 SSD can slide straight into the pocket of your jacket or camera bag, no extra baggage required.
Despite its tiny footprint, capacity is not compromised – coming in 1TB, 2TB and 4TB4 models depending on your personal storage requirements.
