A Closer Look at How the SanDisk Professional PRO-DOCK 4 and PRO-READERS Can Accelerate Your Workflow
For creative professionals and film studios working with huge amounts of data, wrangling can often be a time consuming task. Especially if you’re working with various card formats, offloading film footage, dual photography cards and drone content at the same shoot. We delve deeper into how the editor PRO-DOCK 4 and PRO-READERS can help speed up the offloading process.
UTILISE SIMULTANEOUS OFFLOADS
With four dedicated reader bays, the PRO-DOCK 4 allows users to offload multiple memory cards simultaneously – and fast.
Rather than individually transferring one card at a time, the device can offload up to as many as 12 memory cards at once depending on the type of PRO-READER configuration used.
Built with customisation at the forefront, users have the ability to mix and match the four PRO-READERS that best suit their project needs. This includes the:
STREAMLINE YOUR WORKFLOW
When working with multiple people on set – from cinematographers and camera crew, to data wranglers and editors – a streamlined space is essential for a smooth workflow.
Kitted out with a number of ports, the PRO-DOCK 4 can connect everything from displays and readers through to A/V devices via one master Dock. This includes 2 x Thunderbolt™ 3 (USB 3.2 gen 2), 2 x USB-A (USB 3.0), 1 x 3.5mm audio/mic, 1 x DisplayPort™ 1.4 and 1 x Gigabit Ethernet port.
Better yet, the built in 260W power supply charges compatible devices and accessories connected with 87W power delivery, cutting out unnecessary cabling.
The stackable design of the PRO-DOCK 4 not only simplifies the workspace, but can also attach to a DIT cart, or even another PRO-DOCK 4 to gear up for bigger production needs.
GET BACK TO THE CREATIVE PROCESS
Not only is production downtime minimised with simultaneous offloading via the four reader bays, the PRO-DOCK 4 boasts Thunderbolt™ 3 connectivity for fast transfers and daisy-chaining.
The aluminum core of the PRO-READERS also work to pull heat away fromthe inserted cards, further enabling ultra-fast offload speeds.2
With USB-C™compatibility, Type-C iPads, Mac computers, laptops or even the G-RAID Shuttle can take advantage of a SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps interface.3
This means post-production has time to focus on what really matters – which is getting the creative editing process started and drafts over to the client.
THAT EXTRA LAYER OF PROTECTION
Chances are you’ve experienced, or know someone who has experienced data loss on the field, either from a corrupted memory card or accidentally overwriting a card that hadn’t yet been backed up.
Whilst writing to two memory cards is one way to help avoid disaster, the PRO-READER devices add an extra layer of protection with an integrated write-protect lock switch.
This prevents you from accidentally overwriting existing data, which is a real possibility when wrangling from a range of cards labeled by different crew members.
