SBS Emerging Writers’ Incubator is back again this year to provide a career to the aspiring, diverse and inclusive Australian storytellers.
Submissions are closed.
SBS launched the Emerging Writers’ Incubator in collaboration with Screen Australia, state and territory agencies, and the Australian Writers’ Guild to support the talent of the underrepresented in the screenwriting industry.
This includes culturally, linguistically, and gender diverse people; LGBTQIA+ and First Nations Australians or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people; and people living in regional or remote areas. People with disabilities, particularly those who are deaf, are also welcome to join.
“The Emerging Writers’ Incubator is such a fantastic and exciting initiative we’re proud to be delivering with our partners. The support it provides to creatives making their way in this industry – from all backgrounds and diverse experiences that reflect Australia today – has the potential to make a significant impact in their careers, as well as the future of our sector and stories on our screens,” says Head of SBS Scripted Julie Eckersley.
Australian screenwriters will have the opportunity to spend a year working with leading production companies, where they will be able to broaden their knowledge, develop their skills, and build relationships within the film industry.
Furthermore, the selected emerging talent will be compensated while on the job and will have access to workshops supported by the Australian Writers’ Guild.
