The prestigious Mono Awards honoring black and white photography is back for a fifth year and is accepting entries until May.
Hosted by Australian Photography and Capture, and presented once again by SanDisk Professional Academy, the competition is open to photographers of all expertise from Australia and New Zealand.

The Mono Awards provides a platform for photographers to have their work be recognized on the international stage while also giving them an opportunity to compete for a prize pool of more than $12,000, including $10,000 in cash prizes.
The competition accepts all points of view and all ideas of black and white photography for three categories, namely, people, places and animals.
Organizers have set May 28, 2023 as the deadline for all entries. A select group of professional photographers then judge the submitted work with the winners, runners-up and top 40 entries in each category to be published in Australian Photography and Capture magazines, and online, in September 2023.
Established in 2019, The Mono Awards is rooted in spotlighting monochrome creativity while at the same time discovering great and deserving talents. It has become one of the most coveted and much-awaited annual competitions in the field of amateur and professional photography.
In last year’s edition of the contest, emerging as winners were “Matera 2” for the Places category by fine art street and documentary photographer Tebani Slade; “Pelican on the Defensive” for the Animals category of wildlife photographer, filmmaker and writer Steve Nicholls; and “Marty” for the People category by Adelaide-based creative portrait photographer Karen Waller.
